Principal’s Report
Welcome to the first newsletter for term one 2019. We hope you had a safe and happy holiday and are ready for the productive year ahead. Congratulations to parents, staff and students on a successful start to the school year. It has been a pleasure visiting classes from all four sites and seeing students settling into routines. Peel Language Development School would like to warmly welcome new families to our school and we look forward to forming positive and productive partnerships.
We would also like to warmly welcome new staff members to the dynamic team at PLDS. Mrs Nicola Edwards, Mrs Shelley Turner, Mrs Ange Regler, Mrs Sasha Wilkinson, Mrs Sandra Naicker and Mrs Kathleen Williamson have joined our teaching staff for 2019.
Information will be sent home shortly about Class Meetings to be held next week, week 3. The purpose of the meetings are to discuss class routines, communication processes, school procedures, meet the PLDS staff working with your children and update contact details. Please return your RSVP notes promptly to class teachers and indicate whether your child will be accessing the bus on the meeting day. If you would like to individually discuss your child, please make an appointment with your class teacher for another time.
Communication is a vital part of our care for your child. Could you please make sure all contact details are updated with our front office – 9593 7830, including emergency contacts. As per the information in your enrolment form, in the event of a medical emergency an ambulance will be called to ensure care of your child is provided. To maintain our Duty of Care to our students, we are unable to release a student unless the person collecting them is on our contact list and has identification. Another important part of the communication process is about students accessing the bus service. Could you please make sure any changes to your child’s bus schedule is written in the Communication Book along with notifying the bus drivers.
Term one 2019 is a busy ten week term, with PLDS teachers consulting with the teachers of students who transitioned to their home school this year. We are also busy testing students to assist with writing Individual Language Plans. Parents with be invited to a meeting at the end of term one or early term two to discuss the current language goals.
We look forward to including exciting information about all four campuses in the newsletter for week four.
The team at PLDS looks forward to a successful and productive year with parents as partners in your child’s education as we continue to offer high quality education to our students and the schools we service across Western Australia.
