Principal’s Report
Welcome to the newsletter for week six, I hope you are enjoying the warmer weather.
I would like to congratulate all students who participated in the sports carnivals over the past few weeks. It was lovely to see the active participation and sportsmanship. Thank you also to parents who attended the carnivals and joined in supporting the students.
The last two weeks have been busy welcoming new 2018 families to our school sites at Rockingham Lakes, Pinjarra, Bungaree and Mandurah. I would like to thank our school P & C members and members of the School Board for attending and speaking to the incoming families. We look forward to positive partnerships over the coming years with you and your child.
Thank you to community members, including the School Board who took the time to fill in the School Survey. Your feedback is valuable to us and we will review ways to continue improving our great school at our Whole School Review Day in week eight.
Exciting events are happening across our four campuses at the moment. The Pinjarra students have been enjoying dressing as Australian animals for their assembly. Congratulations to room 18 at Mandurah as they won a worm farm! Bungaree are also dancing for their assembly item and all students enjoyed the ‘Count Us In’ singing with students across the state.
Teachers and Speech Pathology staff are busy collaborating about reports and Individual Education Plans over the coming weeks. These will be posted to parents at the end of term.
Our exiting students will be going on Transition visits in weeks six and seven. This will be an exciting time to meet new friends and visit their 2018 home schools.
We look forward to formally thanking parent volunteers at our Parent Morning Tea on Tuesday 6th December.
You will also be receiving notes about the annual PLDS School Picnic. This event is always lots of fun and a chance to chat to other parents and enjoy a picnic lunch.
Stay safe and well till next time.

Pinjarra Campus
** Pinjarra Campus have a Staff Development Day on Friday 17th November. Students do not attend school **
Room 28 and 29’s Assembly!
On October 26th the Kindy, Pre-Primary and Year One students in Pinjarra performed their assembly item.
The students performed the Australian Animal Hokey Pokey.
Students dressed up as the different animals in the song and spoke very clearly on the microphone.
We would like to thank the parents for helping us with the children’s costumes.
Mandurah Campus
Mandurah Room 18
We began this term by winning the science dance competition as we had been learning about movement. Room 18 won a worm farm! The children were enthralled as we built it, adding in the different layers of sand, learning about wet and dry and how worms have five hearts! We then drew pictures of the worm farm and thought of how we could describe the worms. The children did a fantastic job with their pictures and writing. Josh’s Mum kindly donated the worms for our worm farm. From the one scoop we counted over 40 worms!
We put the rest of the worms in our vegie garden that was in need of some love after all the hot weather. The children enjoy spending time outside in the garden. The garden is always a great learning opportunity, Learning the difference between a butterfly and a moth, measuring the heights of different plants, sorting plants into fruit, vegetables and flowers. We have harvested some potatoes and are looking forward to when we can harvest the rest of our produce.

Bungaree Campus
On the 14th of November, the students in room 3 and 4 performed an assembly item to the ‘Mixed up Chameleon’ By Eric Carle followed by an energetic dance to ‘Happy’ by Pharell Williams! They even surprised the audience with a flash mob style dance!
They have been practising their performance over the last few weeks and all their hard work paid off with an applauding audience. It was wonderful to see parents, staff and even senior students join in for a dance. The costumes created by parents were phenomenal thank you to everyone who assisted in making room 3 and room 4’s assembly item so successful!
Thank you to everyone who was able to come! Miss W and Miss Rudland
Interschool Carnival
On Friday the 10th of November, some of our students were selected to represent Bungaree at the RASSA interschool carnival at Hourglass Reserve.
They all had a fantastic time and came back with lots of ribbons.
Complimentary feedback was received from teachers and parents about student’s good behaviour and how smoothly the day went. Well done to everyone involved!
RLPS Campus
Kindy A & B
This term in Kindy A we have been learning about Transport. We have looked at the differences between land, sea and air transport. We have completed cooking sequences, craft projects and Language activities related to the topic and have especially enjoyed playing with the boats in our new water trolley.
We are also getting very excited about almost being big Pre Primary kids. We have learnt so much in Kindy and have loved our first year of school. We would like to take this opportunity to thank our parents for their continued support throughout year and let them know that everything they have done has been greatly appreciated.
Music: Count Us In 2017
Music: Count Us In (MCUI) is Australia’s biggest school initiative. Music: Count Us In brings teachers, parents, students and the music industry together in celebration of music and music education. The program is a perfect fit for schools with an existing music program and for schools without one. Music: Count Us In exists to advocate for improved access to music education for all students across Australia.
The Rockingham Lakes and Peel campuses came together to celebrate singing the songs on November 2nd. We all sang, moved our hats and feet to the song “Shine Together”. The singing was really wonderful and the students sang with gusto. We were reminded that we were singing at the same time as over 2500 schools around Australia.
Interschool
This year’s Interschool Athletics Carnival was held on Wednesday 8th November at Hourglass Reserve in Cooloongup. The combined Rockingham Lakes/Peel Language team took on students from East Waikiki, Rockingham Beach and Cooloongup. This year Peel Language had 3 students representing the school at the carnival and they were Tysen Bruce, Deegan Wood and Tamaroa Rakena. These students competed to the best of their abilities and were extremely well behaved on the day. The school is very proud of these students for their achievements. Rockingham Lakes ended up winning the tournament and taking home the shield.
Library
Just to remind parents now the warmer weather is here if they can keep their children’s water bottle away from the library books. This is a bad time as water can damage the books and this reminder could save them money.
If they are having swimming lessons too it is a great idea to keep all of their wet gear in a separate bag away from the books.
THANK YOU !
These are the new reading resources that our school has purchased for our classroom teachers (there’s a truck load!). Finally they have all been processed and ready for 2018. A big thank you to the 2 lovely ladies, Leanne and Sarah, for covering them all.
