Please note that the school is now closed. The administration office will re-open after the Christmas break for 2017 on Wednesday 25th January.

Principal’s Report

Welcome to the last newsletter for 2016. I would like to sincerely thank parents, family and community members and PLDS staff for your part in making 2016 an amazing year of teaching, learning and building positive relationships.

There is important information in this newsletter about after school care for 2017, we hope you find this helpful.

Last Friday we attended our annual picnic and it was lovely to see so many parents and relatives joining us for the day. The picnic is always an enjoyable event but cannot happen without the support of staff, parents and volunteers. Thank you to the whole Peel Team for helping the day run so smoothly. Special thanks to Ben Voges and his committee members for your behind the scenes organisation.

Congratulations to all PLDS students on your achievements this year and special congratulations the recipients of the 2016 book awards across all sites. You should all be very proud of the progress you have made. On behalf of PLDS I would like to like to wish our exiting students every success in their new schools and we hope you will return for a visit.

Students will be bringing home work samples for their family to view over the holidays. Enjoy sharing the Semester Two learning journey. Reports will be sent out at the end of term and we hope you also enjoy seeing the progress your child has made.

I would like to thank Mrs Kelly Daraz and the P & C for your valued contributions and helping to make our school a united community. The P & C work tirelessly as volunteers in the school and we look forward to seeing new members join in 2017.

A big thanks to our gardeners and cleaners who maintain our beautiful school every day.

I would also like to thank Mrs Michelle Williams and the School Board for your united support in our second year as an IPS. It has been a positive and rewarding journey that we look forward to continuing in 2017.

A big thank you must also go to Mr Sewell and his Admin Team, the teaching staff and office staff at Rockingham Lakes PS. Your inclusiveness, support and the positive relationships between the two schools are truly valued.

We extend a big thank you to the Teachers and Administration Teams at our co-located sites of Bungaree, Mandurah and Pinjarra for your help, support and inclusiveness.

I would also like to thank our dedicated team of educators at PLDS, including the Leadership and Speech Pathology Team. It's a privilege to work with such a caring team of professionals who have the students learning and well-being at the heart of everything you do.

Thank you to Mrs Hatfield and the Outreach Team, your service to the schools in WA is an awesome achievement and highly valued.

Thank you to the Admin team at PLDS. We value your professionalism and care of the staff and students at our school. To Ms Baines, Mrs Fussell and Mrs Smartt, our sincere thanks for helping the school run smoothly. To Miss Columbus, Mrs Harper, Mrs Neeson and Mrs Middlemiss, it's a privilege to work with such an amazing team and I appreciate your dedication to our school. Mrs Middlemiss will be spending 2017 at Fremantle LDC where we wish you every success and will miss you.

Sadly we will be farewelling staff from PLDS at the end of 2016. We would like to sincerely thank Mrs Stacey Cleverly, Miss Jess Power, Mrs Kim Hartley, Mrs Sam Iriks and Mrs Zoe Wilson for you professionalism and care whilst working at PLDS. We wish you every success in your future endeavours.

We are also saying a very sincere and heartfelt farewell and thank you to our Manager of Corporate Services, Mrs Marion Chatfield who is retiring at the end of 2016. Mrs Chatfield joined the team at PLDS in 2010 and has been a highly valued member of staff. We wish you many enjoyable experiences with your family and will miss you.

Mrs Georga McMullen and Mrs Rosemary Brennan will be on leave for 2017. We wish them a successful year and look forward to their return.

Mrs Barbara Hirsiger and Mrs Tenelle Veldman will be returning to our school in 2017 and we look forward to welcoming them back.

Have a safe and relaxing holiday break. Wishing you all a merry Christmas and a very happy new year and we look forward to another successful year in 2017.

Picnic Day

This year’s picnic was held on Friday 9th December at City Park in Rockingham. The students arrived at the park around 10am and had their recess.

Then students rotated around to different activities throughout the day such as water relay, tug-O-war, bocce and many others.

The students had some lunch before jumping back on the bus back to school. Everyone was really well behaved and the students and teachers had a great time.

It was a fantastic way to end the year!

The slide was a big hit!
